SOMETHING ABOUT CCDR's RESEARCH CENTER

LOCATION IN FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA

The charm of this bustling small-town (about 55,000 population) is literally a highpoint of Arizona, at 7000 feet elevation. Downtown, with its historic railroad station, is snuggled at the base of the snow-covered San Francisco Peaks (over 12,500 feet), and surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the Southwest---from lush pine woodlands to stark deserts. The Grand Canyon, Sedona's red rocks, Native American reservations, several breathtaking national monuments, and ancient cliff dwellings are all within a short driving distance. The town is recognized among ten US cities having the most healthy (non-polluted) breathing air in the country, and with controlled lighting in the city there is a nightly star-studded view. Flagstaff is home to the Northern Arizona University (NAU), where most of the 2003 Symposium was held. CCDR is located near the campus.
